Corporate - Company History

Triangle Blueprint Co. was founded in 1939 by the late Joseph L. Teti in Trenton, New Jersey. It was the successor firm to J. Harmar and Co. which was founded around 1922 by Josiah Harmar, scion of a wealthy Philadelphia family.

Mr. Teti was an employee of Mr. Harmar until 1939. At that time, an agreement was struck by Mr. Teti and Mr. Harmar whereby Mr. Teti would acquire the J. Harmar and Co. and Mr. Harmar would retire.Throughout its early years, Triangle Blueprint Co. provided blueprint and photostat reproduction services and sold art and drafting supplies.

Triangle embarked on the road to copying and duplicating in 1964 when the photo direct offset plate systems came to market. This technology made plate making for the offset printing process relatively quick and inexpensive. In effect, this technology gave birth to the quick printing industry.

Triangle had limited success with this technology, and it was not until 1968 when Triangle acquired its first XeroxT machine, that Triangle began to assert itself in the creation of the quick printing industry in central New Jersey. Xerography was just the technology that was needed to launch the "print for pay" industry. Xerography was quick, easy, rather inexpensive and dry; it was very user friendly and still is.

Over the years systematic repetition of the basic concepts of simplicity, contemporary technologies and customer focused strategies have propelled Triangle into the forefront of copying, color duplicating and digital imaging.

In 1976, Triangle opened its first satellite quick copy center featuring copying and duplicating with xerographic technology. The location was very successful and others were opened in the ensuing years.

In 1984, with many successes to point to, Triangle expanded its marketing into franchising. The company-owned store in Princeton, New Jersey became the first Triangle franchise with William H. Howard as owner-operator. Since that time, company owned Triangle centers along with franchises have joined the Triangle network.

Triangle's strategy in the future is to continue to grow and co-exist with company owned stores and franchised owner-operations.

Overview of the Industry

Some fundamental changes in our society have created tremendous opportunities in our industry. Technological advancements have provided a rapid means of creating documents and compiling data. The digital revolution of the past decade has made a significant contribution to the development of the "print for pay" market, accelerating quick copying into a major global industry.

The traditional printing press is becoming obsolete and proving to be an obstacle in today's fast moving business environment. The percentage of reproduction work being produced by the printing process has declined dramatically with the enhancement of high volume duplicating, color copying and digital imaging.

The United States has shifted from a manufacturing economy to a service economy. This coupled with the evolution of the personal computer bodes a very bright and prosperous future for the reprographic industry.

Triangle's historical ability to stay in step with current market conditions has resulted in its recognition as one of the leading reprographic companies in North America. Triangle's reputation is built on its progressive business approach and relentless pursuit of quality in the marketplace. Franchise owners profit from over 60 years of business experience and Triangle's philosophy of staying on the leading edge of today's technology.
